First Talk On Big Data and Social Analytics In Pampanga

Big Data is a new (and intimidating…really intimidating) term. A lot of people think it’s just another buzzword that marketers use and it should no longer remain as such. Because despite its rise in popularity in the past several years, big data analysis is actually an old practice that marketing professionals have always performed to provide business insights and value. It’s something that we should embrace, not fear.

Big data and its impact on business and society is so powerful we decided to bring the first discussion around it in Pampanga. On May 28, 2016, I.T. and marketing experts from MetroDagupan ICT Council has come to share and talk about big data and its impact on timely issues including the most recent Philippine elections and social media analytics for business. The event was attended by more than 20 engaged participants from the academe, marketing industry, and community members of Google Business Group Angeles City.

“Big data is a collection of data from traditional and digital sources inside and outside your company that represents a source for ongoing discovery and analysis.”

Google, for example, is probably one of the most popular companies that we know that uses big data to their advantage. The multi-billion dollar tech giant processes an average of 40, 000 search queries of every second of everyday. That’s equivalent 1.2 trillion searches each year! Just think of the insights about humanity you can gather using that amount of data.



Francis Fernandez is the Co-founder and Charter President of Metro Dagupan ICT. Francis shared his knowledge on how to analyze sentiments on Facebook and Twitter.


Analytical findings from big data can lead to the discovery of new revenue opportunities, better marketing strategies, improved customer service, better operational efficiency, competitive advantages over rivals in your industry and other business benefits.


For professionals such as Consultants, Analytics Managers, Marketing Specialists, Software Engineers, Researchers, or Project Managers and other positions which work involves analyzing large data sets, understanding big data can help them draw better hypotheses and solutions.
